The Asia Cup 2025 is coming, and cricket fans across Asia are getting excited! This big tournament brings together the best cricket teams from Asia for what promises to be an amazing few weeks of cricket.

When and Where is the Asia Cup 2025?

The Asia Cup 2025 will happen from September 9 to 28, 2025. That’s almost three weeks of non-stop cricket action! The matches will be played in two cities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) – Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Originally, India was supposed to host the tournament, but due to some political issues and security worries, they moved it to the UAE. Don’t worry  though – India is still officially organizing everything.

What Makes Asia Cup 2025 Special?

This year’s Asia Cup 2025 is the biggest ever! For the first time, eight teams will play instead of the usual six. This means more matches, more excitement, and more chances for upsets.

The tournament will be played in the T20 format (the shorter, faster version of cricket), which makes every ball count. This is perfect practice for teams getting ready for the 2026 T20 World Cup.

The Teams Playing in Asia Cup 2025

The eight teams are split into two groups:

Group A:

Group B:

  • Afghanistan
  • Bangladesh
  • Sri Lanka
  • Hong Kong

  • Famous for its amazing lighting system called “Ring of Fire”
  • Will host 11 matches, including the final
  • Known for being fair to both batters and bowlers

Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi

How Does Asia Cup 2025 Work?

It’s pretty simple:

  1. Group Stage: Each team plays the other teams in their group
  2. Super Four: The top two teams from each group play against each other
  3. Final: The two best teams from the Super Four play for the championship

This means if India and Pakistan both do well, they could play each other up to three times!

Teams to Watch in Asia Cup 2025

India – They’ve won the Asia Cup eight times and are the current champions. This time, they’re playing without their big stars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for the first time in years.

Pakistan – They’ve won twice before and really want to beat India. They have a new captain, Salman Ali Agha.

Sri Lanka – They’ve won six times and are always dangerous. They won the tournament just three years ago.

Afghanistan – The surprise team! They’re getting better every year and recently reached the semifinals of the T20 World Cup. They already started strong by beating Hong Kong by 94 runs.

Bangladesh – They play in every Asia Cup but haven’t won it yet. Maybe this is their year?

The Match Everyone’s Waiting For

India vs Pakistan – September 14 in Dubai

This is the match that stops everything in both countries. India has won more matches against Pakistan in the Asia Cup (10 wins vs 6 losses), but in T20 cricket, it’s much closer.

This will be the first time these teams play without Virat Kohli in the Indian team since 2008, which makes it even more interesting.

Why Asia Cup 2025 is Historic

Several things make this Asia Cup 2025 special:

  • Biggest tournament ever with eight teams
  • First time without Kohli in an India-Pakistan match since 2008
  • Afghanistan’s rise as a serious cricket nation
  • Perfect practice for the 2026 T20 World Cup
  • Neutral venue ensuring fair play for everyone

A Quick Look at Asia Cup History
